Our Haiti mission team made up of folks from the Sarasota Baptist Church and Agape Flights in Venice, FL
We were the guests of Pastor John and Joyce Hansen of International Missions Organiztion (IMO) and stayed at their compound in Port-au-Prince.
This picture was taken as we were on our way to church services on Sunday
(explains Rod's tie!)
Street scenes of the city life in Port-au-Prince

The room on the left was our accommodations
while at the IMO compound. There are 3 efficiency units in this building. All were used by the 3 married couples on our team. The rest of the team was housed in the IMO Guest House on the compound.

Note: the man sitting on top of the concrete wall at the left of the picture.
He's putting stucco on the wall they are building.

These men are sifting sand from the stone pile to make up the mixture used for the stucco on the wall. All work is done by hand in Haiti.

We drove out into the country to visit one of IMO's schools and a medical clinic in Boutan, Haiti.

A classroom at the Boutan school

The children loved seeing their picture on the digital camera

Joyce Hanson travels 1 1/2 hours every Thursday over bumpy, dusty "roads" to run the medical clinic at Boutan

Rod experiences a "near miss" as this donkey approaches on the road at Boutan!

The ladies from Sarasota Baptist put on a tea for the missionary ladies.

The Haitian kitchen staff was most appreciative when they also received pretty tea cups along with other special treats

A view of the sunset from the roof of the IMO headquarters

Agape chefs, Rod, Paul Prachar and Charlie Gardner,
BBQ up some ribs for the missionaries. They were yummy!

The missionaries enjoy food and fellowship under the big tent
at the missionary picnic.
An exciting time for us all was when the mail delivered by Agape Flights
was handed out to the missionary families!

Rod visits with another ex-dairy farmer, Byron Tlucek, who left the herd to
serve God on the mission field in Haiti. That's Isabelle, Byron's adopted daughter in the pink dress busy picking pretty flowers. What a cutie!

The biggest treat of the day ... ICE CREAM!
Folks came back for seconds and even thirds! Agape and Sarasota Baptist provided this special treat knowing it is rare in Haiti

Congregation rejoices in praise & worship at the
Sunday morning service in IMO church at the compound

"Gramma Molly" couldn't resist holding one of the little ones
dedicated at the service this morning

We traveled up into the mountains with Pastor John and Joyce to a rural IMO church at Terre Rouge for a Sunday evening service. The people are standing in front of the church with the Pastor's house on the left. Yes, that's a pig in the right foreground and many goats were among us, too!

As the sun sets behind us at Terre Rouge, Haiti
we once again leave a piece of our hearts with the
country and the people we've grown to love.

We attended the Venice Bible Church Easter sunrise service at Manasota Beach. The moon shown in the west as the sun rose behind us in the east.
Beautiful!
After the service we gathered on the beach...

to witness 7 baptisms!

Volunteers gather at Agape Flights to work on a big mailing
going out to supporters.
These gals are pros! We had fun!

...and the Schowes arrived just in time to finish the project.
It was great to have them visit!
Thank you guys!

TIME OFF...

A day spent on the Myakka River ...

We saw osprey in the tree tops,

and alligators along the river bank.

but, that's not all ...
at Myakka State Park
the gators were plentiful swimming in the river.

They didn't seem to deter the fishermen, tho'.

At Myakka State Park there is a "Canapy Walkway" bridge that spans above the treetops. It's 25' high connecting 2 towers ... one of which is 75' tall. We crossed the bridge and climbed to the top of the tower. What a view!

The canapy walkway and tall tower taken from below.
Pretty neat, huh?

We celebrated mom and dads 58th anniversary
while they were here visiting and volunteering.
They have been supporting Agape Flights since 1985
Our friends Roger and Brenda Milk visited
